Dr. Larry Lipkis is the Bertha Mae Starner ’27 and Jay F. Starner Professor of Music and
Composer-in-Residence at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He has been a full time faculty member since 1979
and served as Chairman of the Music Department from 1997-2000.

As Composer-in-Residence, Dr. Lipkis supervises the students in the Bachelor of Music program. This includes giving individual and group lessons in composition and directing the annual Moravian College Composers' Concert. In the photo above, Dr. Lipkis poses with conductor Don Spieth and members of the Class of '09 who performed solos in his orchestral works Pas de Deux and Rondo Caprice (premiered in November, 2008)
Dr. Lipkis' teaching schedule for the 2009-10 academic year:
Fall semester: Form, Orchestration, 20th Century Music to 1945, Chromatic Harmony,
practicum courses for composition majors, and composition lessons.
Spring semester: Diatonic Harmony and Contemporary Music since 1945,
practicum courses for composition majors, and composition lessons.
Dr. Lipkis also directs the early music activities at the College, which include the Collegium Musicum (spring semester only),
the Mostly Monteverdi Ensemble, the Baroque Ensemble (fall and spring semesters),
and lessons and practica in recorder and viola da gamba.
