Rebel Angel for clarinet, cello, and piano

Rebel Angel was commissioned and premiered by Pacific Serenades in 1989 and was revised in 2017.
According to Hebrew legend, a band of rebel angels came to earth to reveal the secrets of heaven to mankind. While so engaged, they acquired intimate knowledge of the pleasure nad peril of mortal love. For their amours transgressions, the angels were punished with eternal exile. One of their leaders, Semyaza, repented and placed himself in the southern sky, between heaven and earth–head down, feet up–in the constellation known today as Orion.
